Aromasin
/Aromasin (exemestane) is an aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It is administered as an oral tablet and is available by prescription only. Patients are advised that Aromasin may cause bone loss and should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to exemestane or any of its components.
What is Aromasin
Aromasin is a medication that contains the active ingredient exemestane. It is primarily used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Aromasin works by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for the conversion of androgens to estrogens, thereby reducing estrogen levels in the body. This reduction in estrogen can help slow or stop the growth of certain types of breast tumors that require estrogen to grow. There are no direct analogues of exemestane, but other aromatase inhibitors, such as anastrozole and letrozole, are used for similar indications in breast cancer treatment.
