Description
Azopt is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is administered as an ophthalmic suspension and is available by prescription only. Patients should be aware that Azopt may cause eye irritation and should not be used in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to brinzolamide or any of its components.
Interactions
- Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors: Concurrent use may enhance the risk of systemic side effects.
Management: Monitor for increased side effects. - Topical ophthalmic beta-blockers: May have additive effects on intraocular pressure reduction.
Management: Monitor intraocular pressure regularly.
