Promacta (eltrombopag) is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist indicated for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), chronic hepatitis C, and severe aplastic anemia. It is administered as an oral tablet and is available by prescription only. Patients are advised to monitor for liver function abnormalities, as Promacta may cause liver enzyme elevations, and it should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to eltrombopag or any of its components.

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of Promacta, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Can I take Promacta while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Can I stop taking Promacta suddenly?
Do not stop taking Promacta suddenly without consulting your healthcare provider, as this may lead to a decrease in platelet counts.
