Promacta
/Promacta (eltrombopag) is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist indicated for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), chronic hepatitis C, and severe aplastic anemia. It is administered as an oral tablet and is available by prescription only. Patients are advised to monitor for liver function abnormalities, as Promacta may cause liver enzyme elevations, and it should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to eltrombopag or any of its components.
