Sensipar
/Sensipar is a calcimimetic agent used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis and to manage hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma. It is administered as an oral tablet and is available by prescription only. Patients are advised that Sensipar may cause low blood calcium levels, which can lead to serious side effects, and should not be used in patients with hypocalcemia.

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of Sensipar (cinacalcet), take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Can I take Sensipar while pregnant or breastfeeding?
The use of Sensipar (cinacalcet) during pregnancy should be discussed with your healthcare provider, as there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. It is not known whether cinacalcet is excreted in human milk, so breastfeeding while taking this medication should also be discussed with your healthcare provider. How should I store Sensipar?
